Minor Irritant
I’ve been reading comments on the zune-esplosion that happened this morning, which is silly of me really, nothing good can come of comments, but I’m peeved by the misuse of the word “bricked”. Something is bricked if it is only functional as a building material, asshats, not if a simple battery disconnect/reconnect restores functionality.
:(
I love my zune. I really do. But now … this. http://gizmodo.com/5121311/30gb-zunes-failing-everywhere-all-at-once So weird.
Re: vaccinations
I just listened and relistened to a This American Life podcast that touches on a measles outbreak in California—something that should NEVER happen in these times—because some parents chose not to vaccinate their children and then traveled abroad, endangering their community and particularly those too young to be vaccinated (
Meet Persephone
I have a new laptop! She is extremely shiny and, inexplicably, has an air ionizer function. (Asus N50Vn-A1B for the curious—such a catchy name.)
steam ran a sale, and everyone was invited
So, giving phwoarhammer a spin. God save us all.
holiday report
The final stages of the holidays, which really started (and mostly concluded) for me while Paul was visiting, have passed. The extended family wasn’t really into it this year, oddly, but nobody was. Something about wearing shorts to the Christmas Eve celebrations made it all feel like a bit of a sham. Swag highlights include Fable II and tea that was picked by monkeys. My parents were really...

Yay for variety, I guess. Firefox completely ate itself on my laptop, so I took the opportunity to try out Chrome, which I immediately decided I don’t like at all. It’s like a toy, kiddy version of a browser straight out of the .exe, and those blue tabs are damn ugly. I don’t even see that it’s appreciably faster. The laptop has been acting funny for a little while now,...

I’ve also acquired Rock Band 2 in a fit of weakness and ridiculous sale prices.

I can’t stop listening to this album by High Places. It’s like audio-falafel—interesting and textured, I’ll have another!
keep on trying 'til you run out of cake
Ahh, the joy and despair of hitting “shuffle”. While random almost inevitably hammers on the Radiohead available on any given mp3 compatible device (a phenomenon that is not unique to me, nor can it be explained), Gronk! is being a bit on the sassy side today. Just so you know, particularly if you are already bummed about the inconvenience of certain will-remain-unnamed-oceans, NOT...
re: snow
I am so thoroughly weirded out. I was not psychologically prepared for snow, much less noticeably collecting snow covering my car. New Orleans is not supposed to be seen covered in snow, that’s just all there is to it. Weird! It’s weird, I tell you!

And oh what gaming news there is, I’m about to asplode from traditional RPG overdose—chronotrigger on the ds (whee!), oblivion and castle crashers on the new 360 (his name is Morbo, he can talk to the zune, Gronk!, and stream music—woo!), and titan quest on the freshly revived uber-pc (as yet unnamed, though leaning towards Orthrus). I kept screaming at Steam, upset that I...
We now return you to your regularly scheduled...
Well, visitation is over, sadly enough (even the cat sulked most of the weekend), but it was a damn good visit with Paul and I know we’ll see each other again soon. Still, don’t expect me to be oddly happy until some ocean crossing re-enters my life.
yay for early Christmas!
Paul and I have exchanged the large portion of our Christmas gifts, and he got me a shiny new 360! We’re still waiting on the ungodly length of ethernet cord to get here, but it’s sitting happily on a newly reconfigured entertainment system. Its name is Morbo. On a clear day I can game forever. Eeee!
